On 17th March several of the men’s senior squad travelled to London for competing at Tideway head, HORR. The weekend began with a late night session on the Thames, a new experience for almost the entire crew, to get used to the new environment of a tidal river system. After starting at a position of 271 the crew were able to bump up the order finishing 184 overall, an improvement of 87 places! This was a great result for the club as it was the first entry in … years, and the … fastest time for the course.

Sunday saw our alumni club, Heart of Scotland, competing in Vesta’s International Masters race. The crew was coxed by a current club member William Coalter with our head coach Graeme in the bow seat.

This weekend was particularly special for both races as it was the first races after having names our newest boat. The 8+ was named after our head coach Graeme Cunningham for all his hard work over the last 20 years of being involved with the club, and it was fitting for him to compete in the boat the weekend it was named.
