Scottish Spring Regatta 2023

Spring Regatta (22nd-23rd April) saw a total of 18 crews racing across the weekend. The weekend started with the Open R2 4+ and saw a domination of the semifinal for the club, although there was tight competition along the course from Aberdeen BC inspiring the crew to push all the way to the finish, and the 4+ finishing 3rd in the final. The afternoon saw the men's squad taking place in the Open R2 8+ in a straight final against St Andrew BC, as well as 5 singles entered across the O R1x, O Nov 1x and O Int 1x. Harris and Ben, both made it into the A final of the O R1x and O Int1x respectively, coming 6th overall in each category. In the women's squad there were entries in the W Nov 2x and W Int 2x with both crews making finals, and in the W Int 2x Emily and Eve placed 6th in the A Final. The begginer squad were competing in the O Beg 1x and the O Beg 4+, and narrowly missed out on 3rd place in the O Beg 4+ final by 0.5 seconds to Strathclyde University BC.

Sunday started with the O Nov 2x and saw a confident 1st place finish in the A final for Andrew and Ross after a battle in the semifinal with Strathcylde Uni BC. The O Beg 4x saw our beginners turn to sculling and came second to Edinburgh in a straight final, again gaining valuable experience in the build up to racing at BUCS. There were 3 women’s singles entered across the day, 2 in the W Nov 1x and 1 in the W R2 1x. The W Nov 1x saw success for our rowers as Lizzie placed 7th in the A final and Isa placed 5th in the C final. Sunday afternoon was also the regatta debut for the men squad racing in the O R2 2- with 2 entries placing 2nd and 3rd in the final.
