After an intense winter of training both in the gym and on the water the senior squads finally got the chance to test their mettle at one of the biggest head races in the world.

For the women, WEHORR gave an opportunity to return to the tideway after a 3 year hiatus. With the help of a strong fresher intake and Rhona Smith of Stirling University Boat Club, they formed a composite eight and finished a respectable 216th out of almost 300 boats, 9th in the novice category.

After the cancellation in 2013 and abandonment of 2014, the senior men's eight were desperate for HORR to go ahead. In the week leading up to the race the weather forecast deteriorated to an extent where most of them had resigned themselves to another cancellation. In the end, while it was very windy and decidedly soggy, the race went ahead. The boys pulled out a strong performance and finished in the highest ever position from a HW crew, 121st out of the 350 entrants.

Dear weather gods, please can we have a flat calm for HORR 2016 - we feel that benign conditions are now overdue. Yours, HORR Cttee
